Saturday 1st April 10am - 5pm
This course is suitable for complete beginners or those who are looking to get back into sewing after a long break and is held in Sew Confident Studio in the west end of Glasgow. Your lunch is included in the price and will consist of soup and a sandwich.
It is designed to build the knowledge and confidence necessary to complete your own projects and progress to a more advanced level of sewing - a great starting point!
You will complete a number of projects over 2 consecutive Saturdays/Sundays. Each will introduce you to a new skill or technique and give you something to take home and be proud of! Projects include:
Tote Bag - You will learn how to make a tote bag perfect for carrying your shopping(or your sewing supplies!). This project is an introduction to construction, seam allowances, cutting techniques, French seams and pinning techniques.
Bunting - You will learn how to make a string of the ever popular bunting. This session is designed to increase your sewing confidence and introduces intricate pinning and stitching as well as how and when to use bias binding.
Zipped Make-up Bag - You will progress to learning how to insert a zip and a lining. Zips and linings are feared by many but you will leave with a sense of achievement and a cute make up bag to show off your new skills.
Piped Cushion - The final set project is a piped cushion. You will learn how to make and insert your own piping and practise your new zip insertion skills. The finished cushion will look just as professional as anything you might find in the shops!
There is also allocated time for you to start your own project with supervision.
Sew Confident is a fun, social learning environment where peer support comes as standard! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN SEWING MACHINE as machines are provided. Lunch is also included in the course price.
